Hi, I'm Liberty and this is my story.  Found as a stray, my life remains a mystery to those who offered their love and kindness, but my part in the lives of those at Angels of the Snow will live on forever.  You could say my role in rescue is behind the scenes, but it is the greater part I play now that has become the driving force when humans forget to keep a reserve of energy... something we Siberians have tried to teach them, but you know humans.

My rescue was one of jubilation and surprise, my days were numbered and the countdown had begun when I was "sprung" from my shelter cell.  Unless you have been incarcerated in a shelter kennel, you cannot understand the joy I felt when I was taken home by a wonderful friend to wait for my ride to freedom and happiness... being the wonderful gentleman that I am... my expression of gratitude was offered with kisses to those who assisted with my release.

My manners were impeccable, my desire to please and obey outstanding.  I waited patiently at the fence until the SiberExpress arrived and even I was surprised when introduced to the humans from Angels of the Snow... such tears of joy, and hugs and kisses for all!

Soon I was loaded into the Jeep with two younger Siberians and we began our journey to what was believed to be a loving and secure future.  I understand there were humans as far away as Texas working to find me a home where I could spend the rest of my days resting at the feet of someone who would love me as much as I would love them, but this was not to be.

The entire trip I never hesitated to thank my rescuers with my beautiful baritone woo's, and accepted their love and cookies with the best form of appreciation I knew how to give, gentle kisses and loving nudges of gratitude.

After traveling for hours we stopped to wait for another rescue who would take me to Maine until my permanent home was found.  We had to wait a long time so I got to know everyone a little better than I had the opportunity to do when traveling.  It was with misty eyes that the humans from Angels of the Snow watched as I wooed them a goodbye and thank woo as I continued my journey with the Maine Rescue.

Unfortunately for me, Angels of the Snow received an e-mail less than 72 hours later that I had been euthanized by the humans at the Maine Rescue.  When I arrived at Rainbow Bridge and looked down on my friends, I realized how many of the human hearts in rescue I had touched, and decided my job would be to help those who had tried to assist me until we could all be reunited at the bridge. So I wait here patiently for my friends who truly have the best interests of rescue in their hearts.

A message from our Human in Charge:

Since Liberty's tragic passing, Angels of the Snow has adopted a policy that prohibits transport for another rescue group without retaining rights of ownership through a "Love of Liberty" clause written into all agreements and contracts.  This is to protect any and all rescues from experiences such as Liberty's.

Today, Liberty's job is to guide rescue humans... and assist his fellow Siberians in need of rescue help.  He is also the official leader of the welcoming committee for new arrivals at Rainbow Bridge where he teaches them how to watch over their humans.
