After a year and a half of neglect, it's not surprising that Sierra flunked his temperament test. Angels of the Snow thought all he needed was a good home and a little love. Currently, he's currently recovering from heartworm and Lyme Disease. After neutering, he'll be ready for his Forever home. A little love has turned this "temperamental" orphan into a lifelong friend and companion.
Sierra's rehabilitation is going very
well. He
had his shots around the first of January, and that slowed him down a bit.
While treating him for heartworms, the vet noticed a problem with digestive
worms as well, so we gave him that awful powder for three days after he got
home. His digestion has been somewhat problematic, but generally his
diarrhea has improved, and he seems to have more energy now. The best sign of progress is his
personality, which has become a little more assertive. Now, we're waiting for the complete elimination of the heartworms from his body
so he can be retested. It should take several more weeks before we can
expect a negative heartworm result.
Sierra went to his foster home today. It was hard to let him go, but the love that his new family has shown for him will definitely see him through any problems until he's completely free of heartworms. Then he can be legally adopted. Wanna bet where he'll end up? Sierra is now known as Sam, and he recently spent the weekend with his foster parents' grandchildren. As for his temperament, Barbara writes: How wrong some people can be....LOVE IS ALL IT TAKES....AND DOES HE EVER GIVE BACK!!!! Thank you Angels of the Snow for bringing us such a great new family member.
Zoey in Training Zoey's Mom reports: As I write, Miss Zoey is asleep on her Daddy's lap in the chair. She has had a long day of tormenting her siblings and has crashed for the evening. We started cart training a while back. Here are some pictures of a very happy Zoey running with the team. She loves to run and keeps right up with the others. Can't wait for the snow!!
Passers-by couldn't figure out what seventeen Siberians (and their humans) were doing at Nickerson State Park on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Actually, it was an Angels of the Snow reunion. Everyone met in the parking lot, took a quick 2-mile walk in the woods, and then retired for refreshments and conversation. Yuki's day began with a premature end to his nap, followed by a short drive to the park where he spotted his canine cousins in the parking lot. All the activity left him a little weary on the ride home.
This is Tucker, trying not to look mischievous.
