Grey Wolf and Family

This is Grey Wolf, a wolf only in name, not in reality.  She was in a shelter in West Virginia due to be put to sleep on November 2.  On October 30th, Angels of the Snow contacted the shelter to let them know we would rescue her. They agreed to hold her while awaiting transport.

On October 31, June from the shelter called to congratulate Nannette: she was now a grandmother.  Grey Wolf had five babies on Hallowe'en!  They never had any idea that she was pregnant.  She was SO skinny.

Nannette continues...  How could I say NO?  I only agreed to save her, but now there were more lives that needed to be rescued. Unfortunately two of the puppies crossed over the Rainbow Bridge; they were only days old.

Since Grey Wolf  and the remaining three pups were in a shelter, we organized an emergency transport before any more lives were lost.  Everyone was just great, from June's husband that left with her at 4:15 am from West Virginia, to Matt who picked them up in Maryland, to Bob who picked them up in Pennsylvania, to Andrew & Cathy who picked them up at the Jersey Pike and brought them to Ed who took them to Rhode Island and handed them to Andrea Rose & hubby (so sorry I forgot your name).  They brought them to me in Dartmouth.  These people all gave up time from their day to help save lives, which I'm sure Grey Wolf and babies are eternally grateful.

They all arrived last Saturday night and had their first vet visit on Monday night.  What a great bunch.  Grey is just so sweet and a wonderful mama.  She had worms, worms, and more worms.  HAD!  Past tense!!  Mommy and babies have been treated for worms and are growing and gaining weight nicely.  Heartworm NEGATIVE, thank God!  Grey is crated and hasn't had one accident in the crate or the house.  She's just fine with the cats and is okay with Cherokee and Kai (even though they keep wanting to check her out and the babies).  She's a good girl.

Grey Wolf and her puppies are currently available for adoption.

Postscript:  Grey has been adopted into a family that already has two Siberians.  Her new Mom writes, "Grey is feeling more comfortable now.  She has started spending more time with us in the family room!  This morning she woke up as any puppy would... jumping on and off the bed, teasing the heck out of her lazy sisters, and throwing her toys around!  It's awesome!  She is such a puppy!  Right now they're playing outside!  It's good for Sera and Dakota to get off their lazy butts!  What do you thing about changing Grey's name?  I think we're going to name her Kyra."
